redeemer city community Groups
At Redeemer City Church, a major component of our mission statement is to "cultivate community." What this means is that, though we meet every weekend for a large-group worship service, the church's activity doesn’t end there. We believe that what happens on Sundays should impact our world on Monday through Saturday as well. Our strategy for cultivating community in Lafayette is though Christ-centered relationships.
Community groups are the catalyst for that kind connection. Our community groups meet in homes throughout the city so that "church" becomes an everyday activity. To reach the nations with the gospel, we begin by loving our neighbors with the gospel.
So, what does a community group look like? The primary activity is media driven and discussion based. Community group is essentially a conversation that takes place in the context of gospel-centered curriculum, gradually working though the biblical drama together. To develop consistency, we meet weekly for biblical discussions, fellowship, and service projects. For diversity, our groups are semester based, each one lasting from 8-11 weeks. With each semester, we begin a new study that will benefit every participant. Community groups are a vital context for Christians to grow in the faith; however, if you are not a Christian, community groups are also a great place for you to explore Christianity.

We are excited about going through the Follow Me series by David Platt. You can watch the trailer to the right to get an idea of what this series is about. If you are interested in reading through the book along with the study, you can find it at a local bookstore (Barnes & Noble, Mardel, etc.) or online in several places, including Amazon: Follow Me Book.
